The presence of Zimbabwe President, Robert Mugabe at Ghana’s diamond jubilee celebration in Accra, appears to have brought a lot of excitement to Ghanaians. 

The 93-year-old leader is undoubtedly one of the most popular African leaders in Ghana. 

He gained much popularity in the West African country over some striking comments he made especially with regards to his country’s stance on homosexuality. 

Ghanaians have taken to social media to share various comments and observations from the former AU leader’s presence at the anniversary celebration. Mr. Mugabe is connected to Ghana in many ways as he once taught as a teacher in Ghana, and got a Ghanaian wife.

Let’s make Ghana’s next 60 years even better – Mahama play video Former President John Mahama Former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to ensure that the country becomes an “even better” place in the next 60 years.  Ghana is celebrating its 60th independence anniversary today, Monday, 6 March, 2017.  In a tweet the former President said “I salute all Ghanaians. Let’s dedicate ourselves, on this occasion, to make the next 60 years even better.”  Ghana gained independence from Britain on this day in 1957.  The year-long celebration will be marked with a series of events. But today, as has been the tradition over the years, there will be a march past of schoolchildren, security services, and the unions at the Independence Square.

Ghana opens investment ties with the Gulf with new relations with Qatar President Nana Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has indicated that Ghana would build strong diplomatic and economic relations with Qatar and other countries of the Gulf to draw investments for development.  He said this during a courtesy call on him by Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, an adviser to the Emir of Qatar at the Flagstaff House in Accra.  He stated that “Ghana is open for business.
